Save your documentation
All documentation to support the extension of the doctoral scholarship is to be submitted to the Human Resources Administrator at least one month before the current appointment comes to an end. Documentation covering at least 5 working days is required for an extension of your appointment to be granted.
It is advisable to keep records of time spent caring for a sick child, illness, parental leave, student union activities, work placement assignments and teaching. You must submit documentation to the Human Resources Administrator as evidence of student union activities (minutes or documents) and work placement activities in order to be granted an extension on these grounds.
Please contact the Human Resources Administrator if you have any questions.
Extension for what?
When your doctoral scholarship expires, apply for an extension with the Human Resources Administrator. The following applies to extensions according the Faculty of Science:
The doctoral scholarship is extended on an hour for hour basis. Your employment is extended by the number of hours you spent teaching.
- Elected positions within union organisations and student organisations and work placement responsibilities
The doctoral scholarship is extended in accordance with the Faculty guidelines for extension of various positions. Contact the Human Resources Administrator for more detailed information.
The doctoral scholarship is extended for a number of days equal to those of the illness. Absence due to illness is reported in Primula Web (more information about sick leave at the central Staff Pages); this then constitutes the documentation for the extension of the doctoral scholarship.
- Parental leave
To be granted parental leave, you must apply for it on a special Form for Authorised Leave (at the central Staff pages) which is to be submitted to the Human Resources Administrator and then signed by the Head of Department.
- Childcare, temporary parental allowance.
The doctoral scholarship is extended for a number of days equal to those spent at home with a sick child and for which you received temporary parental allowance. In order to qualify for an extension, you must report childcare/temporary parental allowance in Primula Web. You must also report childcare/temporary parental allowance to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan).
